| Janis Clarke, a consecrated woman from the
archdiocese of Montreal now living in Gaithersburg, Maryland, has a
bachelor’s degree in music from McGill University and an MA in
theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. After
working for years in music and youth ministry, Janis Clarke launched
a Rosary Apostolate for Peace in 1999 for
the new millennium. In collaboration with Fr. Francis Martin,
world-renowned scripture scholar, Janis produced four Rosary CDs on
the Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous Mysteries. She has
visited churches throughout North America encouraging busy
parishioners to pray with the help of her Rosary CD during their
daily commute. Her ministry includes a wide variety of spiritual
events where she ministers through word and song to people of all
ages. In February 2005, while leading a parish mission, Janis was
struck with medically diagnosed vocal cord paralysis. On December 8,
2005, after seeking prayers for her throat during a healing Mass and
then from her local bishop, the paralysis disappeared.
Throughout the period of paralysis and since then, Janis has
spent long hours in Eucharistic adoration seeking God’s will.
“I began to see how the prayers of children, in communion with
Our Lady and the Holy Innocents would turn the tide in the battle
for legal recognition and protection of the unborn. I also began to
understand the critical role that priests play in this battle for
Life, and how desperately they need the prayers of children and all
the faithful.”
From this conviction she founded
Eucharist for Life, a children’s mission that includes
Eucharistic adoration, children’s Bible study, worship through song,
catechesis, sports, and prayers for priests and the unborn. Janis
composes songs for her performing repertoire and for the children,
focusing on praise and worship, the Eucharist, Our Lady and the
cause of the unborn.
Janis has resumed her ministry of traveling across the country
encouraging parishioners to pray the Rosary for Peace, now enhanced
by her Eucharist for Life ministry to children. She continues to
sing for a wide spectrum of events, using her gifts as a
professional singer, songwriter, recording artist and public speaker
to stir the hearts of her listeners to a longing for God and a
deeper commitment to peace, justice, and respect for the sacredness
of every human life.
Janis is available to speak and sing at parishes and
other relevant events upon request. Contact her at
